I've not tried it, but I saw on a cookery program that as soon as you're done with the caramel you should fill the pan with hot water and return it to the heat for a bit as it'll help lift the caramel.

This. Just boil it out. You can also stick the spoon and brush and whatever else you were using in the pot while it boils to get the sugar out of them.

Yup. I've had to save many a pot at work. It's fat quicker for me to just cook it off than let the dishwashers scrub it.

I usually put hot water in it and let it sit for a while and the hot water will slowly melt the sugar off of everything for you

exactly; you don't even need to boil it, just hot tap water and like 2 minutes of soaking.

I've found that if you have a pan with anything REALLY stuck in it, fill it with super hot water, and put some dishwasher soap (Cascade, etc.) in the water. Let it sit for an hour or so, pour it out, and then wash it like normal. Works like a champ.

Like everyone else said, just throw that thing in the sink, fill it with scalding hot water and let it soak. Every year at Christmas I make almond brittle and sponge toffee so believe me, I've had all kinds of things covered in caramel. Water is your best friend!

Boil with hot water and scrape almost like deglazing

Caramel is mostly sugar, which is super soluble in water. You don't even need to boil it if you sit it out long enough. What did you try that wasn't working?
level 1
put water and boil it. the sugar will melt and you can scrap it off.

If it's really fucked you can also put some coke OR OTHER ALTERNATIVE/NON BRAND COLA in it, leave it over night then add water and boil the shit out of it and it should then scrub off pretty damn neatly.
I don't know why this worked, but I don't make a habit of questioning the cleaning techniques of seventeen year veteran kitchen porters.

Anything acidic will increase the solubility of sugar, which is why you add a splash of lemon juice to make invert sugar.
level 1
boil water with a touch of vinegar

I let it cool and harden just a little bit and then peel what's left out and eat it. I mean, it's CARAMEL.
Then hot water soak before regular washing.

I usually scrape everything out I can with a wooden spoon and then scrub with a past of dish soap and baking soda.
